Yeah, that used to be the way. . . but these days people seem to start on Veteran's Day.

And sometimes on November 1st, right after taking down the Halloween stuff. Then on January 1st, expect Valentine's Day to roll around. Some people aren't happy unless they're decorating for SOMETHING. *sigh*

Then I think you have the person you should be asking this of closer at hand. :p

My mom in law is a seasonal decorator, and some wintery stuff comes out in november* but actual christmas stuff usually waits till after thanksgiving.... Then again she has some nice Caroler dolls and pewter figures that stay out all year, but I can't blame her, they're cute.

*of course since it snowed today, it's hard to criticize that.

It's a chicken or the egg kind of thing. Like when your neighbor doesn't take down the Christmas lights until July 4th...

Actually the Homeowners Association does have a deadline to have the lights down by in our area.

Meh. Some families start decorating before the Thanksgiving celebration, especially if they're hosting a party with families and/or friends. Some families start decorating on Thanksgiving Day.

Heck, some of our stores started stocking and selling holiday decorations right after Halloween.
