Holy Warrior as theme, not class

I think the holy warrior of the god of thieves should be different than the holy warrior of the god of forests. Now, I think a cleric need NOT be a holy warrior, but could be.

So, maybe instead of paladin as the holy warrior, maybe holy warrior should be a theme (or themes, depending on how complicated you want to get).

The Paladin is a champion of law & good, not a holy warrior.

Should all alignments have champions? It makes sense, but on the other hand, Paladins are the one that goes around questing to help people (be it the knights of Arthur or Charlemagne, or the more modern, well, '50s/'60s Paladin played by Richard Boone), and thus more suitable for an adventuring class.

I think the base cleric has the holy warrior schtick covered pretty well, especially if there are cleric customization choices similar to 2E or 3E.
