Holy weapon activation

It appears that a Holy weapon doesn't need to be activated in order to add its +2d6 damage. Is that correct? Has anyone seen one of these in action, and if so, had any problems with it?

Thanks,

It's always active (as is the negative level penalty that it imposes on evil people).

I don't see why it'd be a problem. It only works on evil things, as opposed to say, working on everything that isn't immune to fire. The alignment-enchantments are also pretty restrictive in who can make them; only a cleric with the appropriate domain can make a holy/lawful/chaotic/unholy weapon (unless you allow Limited Wish or Miracle to sub in for the alignment-smiting spells).

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't...?

But Limited Wish is an expensive way to do it, at 300XP per day for a minimum of 16 days... that's a third of a level...

I would just let Miracle create that particular item without a hitch. But I see your point.
