I get most of my ideas from European history. Books like The Monks of War and The Northern Crusades are great for creating religious orders. It really all depends on what type of game you are playing (low fantasy, high fantasy) for which resources one would use for inspiration.

I'll grudgingly admit to the realms, but that's just because I steal a lot of the monsters and magic. I think the only place I've ever used is undermountain.

If I ever get the money together, I'm probably going to invest in a few of the scarred lands city books. From what I've seen, Mithril and u, well, whatever the city of nectromancers is called, they'd fit in quiet well with my world. Ditto the carnival of sorrows and ratcreature stuff from their critter book.

Back when they had the celebrity campaign table on the wizards site i used to visit regularly. Some of the wizards employee's have great sites. I still visit Monte Cook and Johnathon Tweet's sites regularly because I like the sound of their hom-brews.

The rest is all stolen from other people's homebrews. The internet is full of people who are willing to tell you about their worlds, and there are millions of great ideas in amongst all that.

This was a tough one for me.

Kalamar, Forgotten Realms and Scarred Lands all have some great resoruces that can be added to almost any setting by filling off the catalog numbers. Forgotten Realms won out in the end because I just find it easier to mesh the material with other campaigns.

I missed it the first time around.

Mark from Creative Mountain Games was cool enough to keep a listing of useful links and many of them I didn't comment on at the time because I missed 'em due to things like work, playing, going out. Yesterday and today, I've had off, as I will tomorrow and Thursday, so I thought I'd take a look around and see what's new on Mark's thread. As none of these threads are a "Me too!" type of deal, is there an issue with this?

Hmm, well I have taken some spells from Forgotten Realms and the city of Hollowfaust from Scarred Lands, as well as spells from R&R and R&RII, which could be taken also as Scarred Lands.

The one book that I have gotten the most out of is The Book of the Righteous, but that's not really a setting book.

Overall, I look through a lot of books for spells, especially for non-combative spells, take very few monsters (I've been trying to cut down on monster overpopulation), even fewer PrCs, and bits and pieces of other bits, like interesting NPCs or a neighborhood or shop from a city.

OTOH, by looking through FR, Midnight, Nyambe, and other settings, I get ideas of what I do and do not want in my campaigns, so all of the ones I read affect me to some extent.
