Hotmail issues

BLACKDIRGE

Adventurer
Hi there, I was hoping that a resident techie, or another hotmail user, might be able to help me out. I have been getting a yellow error message: "you're account is temporarily not available" whenever I try to send an email. I cannot receive emails either. It's been this way for the past two days.

Have any other Hotmail users encounter this issue? If so, do you have any advice? My email account is how I do pretty much all of my business, so I'm kind of freaking out.

Thanks

BD

try accessing it from another computer or at least a different web browser.

Also are you sure your business was within what they allowed in their Terms of service?

I'm not having any trouble with my hotmail account. Are you accessing it from another application such as Outlook Express or Outlook?
If you are using another application, it may require you to manually sign periodically in to the hotmail web page in order to confirm that you are real and not a spammer.
I had this problem a while ago when using Outlook Express. It was annoying because it didn't tell you what was wrong - it just didn't work until you went to the website.

Beyond that I can't help.

You have to go all the way in and check your email fairly regularly or they put your account in cold storage.

I have a hotmail account from when it was first made available...my password is 4 digits(all numbers). It's always in time-out due to lack of continual usage.

Other than that, dump your temp files and your cookies, check your browser settings, and try again. Go in the front door instead of going through outlook or whatever you are using. (I think they are just trying to make people with free accounts look at the ads.)

Hopefully you've figured it out by now. If like me your primary email communication with friends was hotmail, and you recently got upgraded to their lousy "Windows Live" BS, then you may have problems depending on your browser. I think it likes MSIE 6, anything before causes problems.

Windows XP, 2000 and 98SE all work, though I don't know if all the bells and whistles work the way they should. Windows ME does not like the "upgrade". Although now that I think about it, maybe that computer uses MSIE 5.

Or, it could have just been the new message for "we are sorry, hotmail isn't available right now, try again later".

Or an ActiveX, java or some other random issue.

I'm considering dropping hotmail and using just gmail, but so many people use that and I still tend to login to hotmail first before anything else.
