House

We finally have our new "ducklings" just in time for hiatus. I wonder how many episodes we have left before the writer's strike affects the series.

While I am enjoying the season, I don't think he held up well to previous seasons. The contest was entertaining, but felt very gimmicky and affected the episodes too much. In fact, we had very little building up of House's relationships with the old crew. Chase is the only one who really had character once he was reintroduced. Foreman had a couple of episodes and then became the nay-sayer and not much else.

I like the new crew and think the balance is nice. Going into this episode I found that that Amber and "13" were the ones I felt would work best in the long term. Both Amber & 13 grew as characters a lot in the last few episodes. Amber was such a one-note character I was surprised she grew on me. Still, I doubted House would end up with two females.

The preview for the next episode seems that they will be fitting the new cast into their roles. I'm looking forward to that.

I too was rooting for Manipulative B*tch and 13. I thought they were far better as staff that would react off each other and make for good stories. They even went and made Amber almost sympathetic this episode. I would have loved to know the answer to the question of why she always had to win. As for the guys, I really don't care about either of them and I just find them boring.

I think the whole idea of the storyline was to be gimmicky. Hence, all the references to reality television.

That said, I think that they got rid of all the interesting ducklings. Cole and CTB should have stayed! Kumar is the only one of the three I find remotely interesting.

Based on that ending, I would love to see CTB become a highly successful disgnostician just to spite House, and even undermine him. I doubt it will happen though.

Here's where I get in trouble - I was never a huge fan of Chase or Cameron. I actually like Chase now more than I did when he was on House's team, Magical Surgery Knowledge (tm) aside. It would be nice though if they got more screentime now that the focus is off the competition.

I like 13, at least there's some dynamic there. B1tch and Plastic Surgeon were fun togethor, but having just the plastic surgeon seems boring. Kumar never seemed interesting to me, and I'd have preferred the mormon.

That aside, since the first season, each season seems to make the patient's survival more of a mystery. This time is was built into the plot of the "contest", but it'd be nice if the doctors actually tried to fix someone rather than just guessing sometimes. :)

I hated Amber with a passion enough that if she had been picked I might have stopped watching the show.

I have not really enjoyed this season as much as the others because of this. I want to see more of Wilson, Cuddy, Cameron and Chase.

I really liked the mormon and was really sad to see him go. I liked Kumer come on not everyone sets patients on fire with such style.

I like 13 but I kind of feel she is just another Cameron with maybe a death sentence hanging over head.

I just wasn't sure how they'd use her for the show once hte "contest" ended.

I'd actually sort of hoped to see less of Cameron and Chase, though Chase at least seems to have some confidence and such. Cuddy was decent this episode, but hasn't been present enough lately. I liked Cameron early on in the series, but eventually it was just tiresome. She's one of the ones (along with Kumar and some others) that never seem to contribute to the cure, so it gets old.

I didn't really think Kumar was that noticeable. The mormon at least seems capable and inteligent.

I think she's got the compassion, and the looks, but comes off as a better doctor figure.

Up until the last 2 or 3 episodes I would have thought she was a one-dimensional character good for the contest but bad long-term. She started to show more facets to her personality in the last couple of episodes, and that made me want to see her outside of the context of the contest.

13 was similar. She had shown little personality until the last few episodes as well. Unlike Amber, I already had a vision of what she would be like once we got past the contest and wanted to see that.

On the other hand, Kutner and Taub had very little growth in the last few episodes. We learned a bit more about Taub, but it seemed more reinforcement. Hopefully they will get a chance to show more when the series starts again, assuming they have enough episodes in the can for us to get comfortable with them before the show disappears for an unknown time period.

Edit: Did some research. 3 more episodes left before the writer's strike leaves it's mark. One of those is going to be the big "Super Bowl" episode (or there are 3 plus the Super Bowl episode).

I guess it is a matter of different tastes. I like Chase he can be such a brownnoser but there are times is character really shines through. When he did the autopsy on the baby and said that prayer I was in tears.

Cameron is great with House she has his freaking number and he knows it. I like her compassion and I like her byplay with Foreman and Chase.

I really liked the chemisrty between the team and I find the chemistry gone form the show this season.

I hate people like Amber I don't think she is a good doctor all she cared about was winning. I don't think she would have changed if she made the team she would always be worried that someone would out shine her and she would lose her job. I would have gotten tired of her brownnosing House and back stabbing everyone else really fast. Actually I did get tired of it very quickly. :)

I have to agree on Chase. He was always a character with depth. He was never as shallow as he seemed to want everyone to believe he was. The training for the priesthood, the fact that he really loved Cameron and only agreed to the fling with her so that he could get her to love him, etc. There was a lot of there there.

Cameron, well, I liked her, but she was too angsty and tortured about her relationship with House.
