Hey, I'm starting a new D20 modern game, and I had some questions... Specifically, if I'm understanding everything correctly, it's very difficult to start off with a car in D20 modern. The cheapest one has a purchase DC of 26 and in order to buy it automatically, you'd need to have a wealth of 16, which is pretty hard to do (assuming perfect rolls and min/maxing, the highest you can get AFAICT is 18). The average wealth rating seems to be about 7-10 depending on various factors, so players are looking at a pretty hard roll just to get a car which, I think, one could reasonably expect a character to start with.
Additionally, the housing is rather expensive as well... Granted, it's for buying a house as opposed to renting, but I've seen no rules about renting apartments, and in any case I think it's reasonable to assume that a character might start off owning a house/condo.
Also, I want to know if there are any official rules for having two characters combine their efforts to buy something. Two of my characters run a business together, so I expect it might come up pretty frequently. It already has come up because of the problem with the price of cars.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
