How about Artifacts?

Well, each individual artifact does have a section of its entry specifically devoted to adventure/campaign hooks. Does that qualify?

When the product was first announced, I was hoping for some good thoughts around artifact creation, effects of artifacts in play, upper and lower level artifacts, etc., etc.; so, adventure/campaign hooks are fun, and I'll happily check them out, but they're not quite what I'd been hoping for. You certainly weren't writing the book to my spec, which I realize, too ;)

I think they do cover creation in some manner. Ari can say a heck of a lot better than I. I thought some kind of charts, like in the 1E DMG, were mentioned.

What are appendix B and C covering? I read the titles and understand them, I just want you to give some depth to them.

Appendix B is a chapter, of substantial size, of random charts for creating a random artifact. It also includes instruction on how to use those charts, and some examples.

Now, the chapter makes this very clear, but I'll state it here as well: Artifacts are very complex items. The charts, while extremely comprehensive in most respects, can't do all the work for you. You'll still have to fill in some details, and you'll want to exercise common sense when it comes to how the powers fit together. But the charts can definitely build you the skeleton of an artifact, as well as help you flesh it out.

Appendix C is an index/summary of new mechanics. Almost every artifact in the book also introduces some other new mechanic--spells, monsters, PrCs, feats, NPCs, etc. We wanted people to be able to find those mechanics easily, even if they didn't remember what artifact they were attached to. Hence, Appendix C.
