How Are your Books Holding Up?

I remember when 4e was released, there was a fair bit of concern over smudging and wavy pages. I bought the gift set and, living in Japan in the summer where it's regularly 35 C and about 900 percent humidity, I got some serious warping of the covers and wavy pages.

I've never been one to touch the pages of a book when reading, so smudging was never really an issue.

In any case, I dug my books out the other day to take a look. The wavy is almost gone although there's still a smidgeon of a curl and the covers now lie flat.

How about the rest of you? Did your books settle down? Or are they still having bad page days?

I had a smudge in my players on the day I bought the core gift set. Since then, nothing.

My martial power does have quite a few, but that's probably due to my daughter spilling a glass of water on it ;(

No problems here. They're holding up pretty well these days -- though of course I've only been playing with them for a few months. :)

No major problems here, though the books can get wavy it is really humid. However, mine have always gone back to normal after it got a drier.

A lot of times when books come from the printer the paper is still holding some moisture, and doesn't have time to fully escape the pages during shipping to stores. I've found that a lot of freshly-minted books I own get wavy pages, but if you put them in a tightly-packed bookshelf (or, as I do from time to time, at the bottom of a whole stack of heavy RPG books) the compression pushes the moisture out of the pages, reducing the waviness. When I get a book like that, I put it at the bottom of a big stack for a week or so.

No problem with wavy pages, but I did get a smudge in the PHB while pointing to one of the powers for another player who didn't have the book.

Since then, I am very careful to not actually touch the print for an extended period.
