How close is your gaming group to "Team America"?

I've not seen Team America, but from what's been said, I've got one group that's a lot like Team America, which I play in, and another which I DM which is very far removed from it.

They've both got their place. The Team America game is very hack & slash, whereas the game I run is more about politics and cloak and dagger stuff.

My last group: spent several sessions looking for the lost brother of two of the PCs and then when they found the guy who killed murdered their brother...

they let him go...

with all of his gear...

and enough money to live comfortably on for the rest of his life.

I can't make this up. I was like "but, I want his damn Sword of Subtlety! (spelling?)"

My latest group kills first, questions later.
:D

I'm still laughing about that one.

The party I am currently running a game for is the most powerful party I have ever GMed for. But then again, I am running Exalted, so that's not too surprising.

But at the same time, this must be one of the most restrained parties I've ever seen. They are really low on the "undiscriminate killing" front. And they are even fairly apprehensive at discriminate killing.

This probably comes from an awareness just how powerful they are - they think that if they just let theselves go even for a moment, they will end up as unstoppable, inhuman monsters. They are constantly telling themselves that they do what they do not for themselves, but to help ordinary people.

In fact, one of the characters was seriously disturbed when he discovered that a cult has sprung up which started to worship him as a god...

I have noticed that one of my gaming groups is acting a LOT like Team America.

1) Violence as the first, and best, solution.
2) Little or no concern for "collateral damage".
3) An absolute conviction that our team is "Good" and the other guys are "Evil Scum!"

So how about the rest of you? Have any "Team America" groups out there or is my group unique?

Thats the best description of my players. Well, #3 especially.

I read this before, and waited for the other shoe to drop, but it never did. So I'll ask: why did they let him go scot-free like that? What was their rationale?

Oh yeah you bet. I will tell you all about it.......but first you will have to prove how "commited " you are

HAHAHAHAHAH

Now I have to wipe sandwich off my screen.

My current group intermingles quotes from Team America and the DEN sequence of Heavy Metal. Then again, 1/3rd are evil, 1/3rd are good and 1/3rd are chaotic and or neutral. Makes for some interesting interactions... like the cleric not bothering to heal the evil members... and casting Commune spells to find out how best to manage the situation.

His CG deity's answer: Evil defeating evil serves the purpose of good... but sleep with one eye open.

There is definitely a lot of colatteral damage, but they ARE in a huge evil city.

The last group was referred to as "the Puny Mortals"

This one is definitely more "Rotten Bastaghez" tho with a twist, one of the fighters has decided to attempt to go paladin, in order to save his soul and protect himself from the others. Gotta love inter party conflict!

I'm the DM of said group, and I still don't understand it. I'll have to remember to ask them next time we game. I remember thinking "Ooookkkkaayyyy..." when they let him go, but I remained impartial. It was wierd that neither of the other two players asked them why they were letting him go, either. Just kind of a surreal moment for me as DM, overall. I had specifically allowed them to discover the identity of the murderer---heck, I had him brag about it to their faces--so that they could work up a little righteous anger and avenge their brother.

But they didn't. Why not? You got me.

Their grade schools probably banned dodgeball.
