The original 1e MM II description (page 39):

One of the most powerful demon rulers of the Abyss is Graz‘zt, lord of an entire layer and dedicated foe of both Demogorgon and Orcus. He was, in fact, waging a winning battle against the troglodyte, harpy, and bar-laura. At a crucial moment, however, Graz‘zt was magically taken to the Prime Material Plane and forced into bondage by a mighty magic-user. He battled free at the cost of being confined to his own plane for a century.

Unless I am mistaken, it's covered by RAW.

1. Have an apprentice cast an extended Magic Circle (inverted) against fiends
2. Cast Gate so the opening is inside the Magic Circle
3. Speak the name of Graz'zt aloud
4. Have the rest of your coven cast enough Force Cages on Graz'zt so he can't leave even by Legendary Resistance on his Charisma throws
5. Cast Planar Binding on Graz'zt
6. Appease him by telling him he can eat your coven of apprentices, who set themselves inside the forcecages to start negociating on a good basis.

Have him agree that 100 year in this plane is better than 1 year caring for your child.

Nice! I wasted half an hour researching options in 1e when all this was made up. (I think you could use Spiritwrack if you knew his true name?)

Stabbing your apprentices in the back does seem thematically appropriate, though you could also offer him something else he wants.

Raising Iuz does sound unpleasant, though of course that could be delegated to a minion (history's full of children raised by third parties because the lord of the castle was off fighting wars).

If you read the Dragon article they did apparently take turns enslaving each other (Graz'zt went second and took the power back Iggwilv stole), which seems appropriate for a pair of power-hungry beings.

As per Dragon #360, yes, they became lovers. "From this union, nations and gods were born."
It's clear that she seduced him indeed, but that was after the summoning and the imprisonment, I think. One quote that I really like about them goes about them loving to hate each other.
