It is funny, few years back this was my favorite web site. But somehow the conversation seems to have dried up and I am finding it hard to find threads that really grab my interest. The thing that used to grab my attention was the sharp analysis and the lively discussion of game theory. Maybe D&D Next will bring that back?

These days the news section/front page is the piece that brings me back.

Ditto. I'm most involved in the "What Are You Reading" threads. I suspect it's because I'm not at all involved in 4e and waiting patiently for 5e. I'm reading a lot of older TSR stuff - gazetteers and the like.

Ditto, also.

Even before the 3.xE/4E civil war the threads I liked most - running a campaign, adventure/campaign ideas and design, using published adventures - had dried up after an early burst of creativity when 3E was released. Coupled with that, I am a fan of FR (not the novels, though!) and any FR-related thread has typically quickly been threadcrapped beyond recognition before the end of its first page.

Anyway, that's not a complaint, per se, because I also don't contribute anything of note here so I'm not exactly qualified to pass judgement, merely to make a personal observation.

I found my way over here through google. I was just starting playing D&D (and Tabletop RPGs in general) and looking for some advice how to run a campaign.
Although I wished I would have looked up this forum before I bought some stuff. Never would have bought "Keep on the Shadowfell"...

I'm old, but have been absent for several years. Back because my son asked me to run a PbP game for him and his friends. Yes :)
