How do Forsakers find the magic items?

Lord Vangarel

First Post
One of the player's in my weekly campaign is about to play a forsaker and the question has arisen as to how the character actually finds magical items to destroy? Does it have to have a friendly mage/cleric willing to help or is there some ability he can use himself?

The compleat forsaker would have at least one level in a spellcaster class, and take an item creation feat (Scribe Scroll, for instance, is always available). This would allow him to create items himself, and then destroy them to gain the benefits. For the ultimate in self-sufficiency.

Sorry hong, but that wouldn't work. You need to be able to cast the spell to create a scroll, and forsakers have to give up any spell or spell-like abilities when they take the class.

You would have to be a 3rd level caster with the Brew Potion feat, since several of the potions only require a caster level, but don't actually require the casting of a spell. :p

They have to give up all spellcasting, spell-like abilities and magic items when they enter the class. Item creation is neither spellcasting, nor is it a spell-like ability. And hey, destroying magic items is right within the spirit of the class, nu?

My mistake.

Destroying magic items is the spirit of the class. Creating them goes completely against that spirit. If anyone tried to pull that crap in my game they would find themselves sorely disappointed.

D00d, the first one to quote the "spirit of the rules" in the Rules Forum, loses. ;)
