To get back to the original question, I don't think the source of magic items really matters. IMC, we divide the better magic items among the group and the ones that we have little or no use for, we sell for profit. In a group with a Forsaker, I suppose the party could just give him those items to break later.
The idea of a spellcaster making items just so the Forsaker can break them seems really funny to me. I mean do you just go up to the party Wizard and say,
"Hey buddy, I need you to blow money and XP and make potions for me just so I can pour them in the river."
