How much does it cost to join? I might like to run a few events or at least the adventures for my guys.
Joining is completely free. To join you will need to get an RPGA Card, usually at a sanctioned local event. Fill out the card and mail it to them. That is all it takes.
If you want to run local events, like the LFR modules for your gaming group. You will need to take the Herald Level test. To take the test, sign in (from the left hand side RPGA drop down list) to the RPGA site using the RPGA number on your card. Then go to the "Judges Center" (from the My Links area on the right hand side of the welcome screen after you sign in) from there you can take the test. Once you pass the test, you can order the adventures.
To order adventure click on the "Event Sanctioning" link (also on the My links area). You will use this to schedule an event, usually by type (convention, gameday, home game, etc.) Part of the event sanctioning is selecting the adventures that you want to run during the event. There will be a list of hundreds of adventures, go ahead and filter them by your specific selection (i.e. Living Forgotten Realms). Then select them and add them to your event. If you want to see a description of the adventure, right click on the link for the adventure and from the drop down open the link on a separate window. If you don't do that, every time you click on an adventure your event sanctioning will go to the adventure description, but will lose any information not properly cached. So it is good practice to open them as a separate link.
Once all that is done, you'll receive a notification about your event. You can click on that and from that location download the adventures.
Hope that helps. When they merged the databases with DCI and changed the site around the whole process changed. I'll see if I can create a short document with pictures to show the different screens. It is confusing at first but after one or two times it should not be too difficult. Hopefully soon they will fix the link to the adventure descriptions, so that you can preview what an adventure is about without having to start sanctioning an event.
