How do the Expertise Feats Interact with an Assassin's Ki Focus?

I just had an odd thought: suppose an Assassin takes Focused Expertise, and applies it to their Ki Focus.

The Assassin article states that when an Assassin attacks with a weapon, they can use their Ki Focus's enhancement bonus and other such properties to enhance that weapon's attack.

So, would the Focused Expertise bonus to attack rolls kick in if the Assassin uses their Ki Focus to enhance an attack with a melee weapon?

I'd say no, you're still attacking with the weapon, and expertise with a ki focus isn't an enhancement bonus or property.

On the other hand, you could take Focused Expertise (Long Sword) for example, because you can use your weapon instead of your ki focus as an implement.
