How Do You Feel About the Rate of New WotC Game Content for 5E?

  • Overwhelmed. There is much more content than I can use.

    Votes: 12 13.2%
  • Satisfied. WotC is putting out content at the right pace to satisfy me as a DM.

    Votes: 49 53.8%
  • Dissatisfied. I would like more options to use in the game..

    Votes: 30 33.0%

I check things out when they are released to see if I might want it but otherwise aside from sometimes seeing news of upcoming releases on here I don’t pay much attention and the rate of release doesn’t matter to me. I judge each release as its own thing

I have gotten more use out of the 3 starter box sets than I have with all the level 1-15 campaign books. The revamped anthology books are ok, but again I only find that I like 1/4 of the material and find it hard to justify the whole book cost.

Upthread @Hexmage-EN mentioned more planar and outer space stuff, which is just the opposite of what I would like to see. So I can see it being hard to satisfy all the people all the time for Wizards. Everyone has different themes and styles of play that they like. I'm only finding 1 decent book every 3-4 years, and then to take a year or more playing it a stretch for my group.

I don't feel like there's a lot that's come out for me as a DM to actually use.

While I understand that this years (and next) were for the new edition, all that really came out were adventures that I don't use as a non-homebrewer and some nostalgia bait that wasn't targeting my nostalgia.

Player options are also DM options and I think we're sorely lacking in there. We need more Tasha's and settings books and less adventures pretending to be setting books and more monster books and less monster books invaded by a scattering of player options. The marketing department commanding the way content is produced is not working for me.

Not sure WotC could do much better than they have been in quality: 9 books in the past 20 months, 7 As and 2 Bs, by my estimation, is a pretty solid batting average?
I guess people disagree with your estimation, otherwise they would / should not be complaining

Thing is, if they release more, everyone buys less.
not sure how true that theory is, I can see the ratio per buyer drop, but that is not the same as overall. There is a lot of middle ground between the 2e and 5e days.

Chances are WotC will keep their pace though, it has worked pretty well for them so why experiment / rock the boat
