D&D 3E/3.5 How do you plan to end your 3E campaign?

How do you plan to end your 3E campaign?

Man, I wish I'd had a game that lasted a year, much less 16 :D

I'm not the DM in either of my current games, which is a nice change for me, but I'm not sure how either game will ultimately deal with the advent of 4E. I know in at least one of them, there will likely be a new campaign with 4E, most likely with new characters, a new story, and maybe even a new setting. In fact, I am working on a 4E setting for our game, so we'll see.

But we have six months before 4E is out and ready to play, so maybe this is all a bit premature.

We're not planning to, actually, we'd like to simply convert the game to 4E.

The homebrewed setting is already fairly similar to a 4E setting, dragonborn put aside, and all but one of our players have classes that should be in PHB#1. That one is a Druid, and seems interested in retiring his character and bringing in a Warlord of similar level once the game comes out.

Therefore, we'll probably just sit with the DM and hammer out reasonable 4E stats for our characters whatever their level will be by then, and also convert our equipment to something reasonable for a 4E game of that level.

Sure, it would be easier with a converter or some such, but starting fresh would probably be worse than this solution. Half the group is new D&D players who are in still in awe of the sheer amount of time D&D adventures requires, and taking away their characters would probably make them lose interest.

The D&D game I was playing in has been called off due to some player problems (one of the guys is a chronic min maxer who was starting to try and plot out other player's characters) so it looks like all my group will be doing till 4th ed is continue with my Deadlands Reloaded game and occassionally my Ultimate Justice League Mutants and Masterminds game.

... now once we have 4th ed... mwahahaha

I don't plan on stopping 3.5 Eberron or Darksun. I have too much money and time invested in it.

However, I may drink a lot anyhow.... ;)

That said- I do plan on buying 4e Core books so that if a good adventure / accessory is released I can translate it into 3.5. Kinda like keeping my 2e stuff for ideas and maps but in reverse.
