My general track is to look 'em over on the computer first. If the pdf is good, I print it, then store the pdf on a CD (in case I ever need to print it again), delete it from my hard drive, and have the printed material bound. If I don't like the pdf, I just get rid of it altogether.
By and large, I use print-only materials for gaming; and pdfs exist SOLELY for the purpose of providing me something to print out. <Here, it might help to imagine me rattling the rust on my fists as I shake them.> I don't believe in reading from a screen, and never NEVER NEVER use resources like name/NPC/monster generators that only exist online. Computers are not welcome at my game table; only character sheets, dice, and the PHB for players (and ya better not expect to refer to that PHB every five minutes, either), and a DM screen and DMG/MM/this week's adventure for me.
