How do you Think?

Like a DM or like a PC?

It doesn't matter wether you are the PC or the DM, people seem to think most ly like one no matter their role.

Even if I'm only DMing and not playing, when I page through a new sourcebook, I always look at feats and PrCs and think "Cool, now I can make my character even more powerful."

As the DM, I don't need new feats or spells or prestige classes, because those things all operate at a level of granularity below what the players actually see. Plus, I can just make up abilities on the fly for NPC's and monsters if I want, since I know they'll probably just be killed by the PC's fairly quickly, so game balance isn't a concern.

Basically, when you're DM, its no fun to min max, because you're already omnipotent.

Well, I am the consumate DM.

If DMs had their own special deity, that would be me.

I am the master of all DMs... past, present, or future.

I would make Gary Gygax drool in anticipation to have me grace his gaming group as the DM.

When I'm running a game at a convention, I'm forced to conceal my true DM power levels, else all would perish around me.

Oh yeah, and I just woke up and am a bit fruity these first few minutes of being awake.

Unfortunatly i seem to think like a DM, even though i rarely fill that role in my gaming group. The guy that does DM 99% of the time has a tendance to let things in based on players asking if they can use it. That leads to me being the guy that trys to calm the others down and keep them from going overboard with thier characters. It's gotten to the point were i think they ask me what they should or shouldn't be doing with thier characters before they ask the actual DM.

I guess I think more like a DM (from a game mechanical viewpoint), altho I'd say, that as a player I try to think like a PC!

However, there definitely is a difference for me, from DM'ing to playing.
