How do you work sex into your campaign?

Depends on the player preferences, the campaign genre and style, and the needs of the scenario. With my current group, romance tends to have a strong presence in the campaigns, and sex sometimes follows that.

Generally, I often describe flirting explicitly, seduction more generally, and cut things off at about PG-13. On the other hand, the semi-horror campaign I ran dipped distinctly into the R-rated, while still staying (I think) within the range of what was needed for the story.

Mentioned in passing, takes place off stage. Occasionally.
Ditto x2. I have NO interest in listening to one of the other fat, sweaty guys around the table detail an amorous encounter. And the lone female player in the group is someone's wife. So, no we don't, and no thanks.

We don't and I, the only female in the group, am the only one who has ever even kidded at it since I joined.

I personally think it would be interesting if it added in some way to the plot (ie. Djeta seduces and consequently (sp?) ends up in bed with the guard thereby clearing the way for the rest of the party to get by. However she falls for the guard and in the next battle , when combat should call for her to attack him with the other guards, she refuses and so on and so forth...)

But you can see where details like that in a game that isn't very role-playing heavy could get long and tedious.

I wouldn't be offended by it though. Strangely enough, I think I would be more likely to say "Can my character try to pick someone up and get some at the tavern?" than the 5 guys I play with.

It happens, with some characters more than others. and in a human only empire, the Vanara and centaur are plain out of luck.

But it's generally the fade to black or offstage variety. Much more likely to RP out the romantic bits. Especially when it comes to things like Toshiro allowing the girl he was sweet on to avenge a matter of honor for him, and her returning with the severed head of the bad guy. Samurai love.;)

The last time I DM'ed, an elven bard character tried to seduce a young human lass who worked at the little bed & breakfast at which they were staying, but his (lower Cha) elven wizard companion decide to simply cast charm person on her instead.

So rather than fading to black, we did go into some detail, making Fortitude saves and such... the player doesn't actually know it yet, but next time they run into that thorp, he may well run into his half-elven progeny (and yes, I did roll for it: it's a boy). :D

I find that extremely disturbing.

Specific details of certain sexual encounters are pertinent to the game (like the time Zuleika's boy toy was found dismembered the morning after -- dead man's eyes provided some interesting details, let me tell you!), but generally speaking there's no need to describe anything at all.

Characters falling in love is a much bigger deal. Nevid on Barsoom has developed a habit of having undead women follow him around.

Well, I have a lot of innuendo, a lot of individual (both genders, all races) in suggestive clothing, and the all the rest, but all actual sex takes place off screen.

OTOH one of my players wanted to push a rather disturbing and graphic relation, so we had a one-on-one (speaking only!) session regarding her character and the npc in question.

She never asked for a repeat of the experience and I think we were both the happier for all that...

Then were do little adventurers come from??
Who cares? It has no bearing on our game.

(Your response to my post was probably tongue-in-cheek, but what the heck, I responded anyways - it's a boring Friday afternoon here at the office!)

There is no sex in the D&D world, duh.

Why else would people be running around genocidally killing orcs, swinging ludicriously huge swords & axes, and "blasting away" with "magic missles"?

D&D and superhero comic books are realms where sex clearly doesn't exist for the main characters, and where all the "action" is simply repressed sex drive.

Come on now, lonely wizard, sitting up in a tower, researching spells of horriffic destruction? Sounds like misdirected libido to me.

And to second Djeta's experience, it's always the girls in my group who say things like, "My character's going to try and pick somebody up." After they get the ball (ing) rolling (bwa ha ha), some of the guys will say, "Yeah, me too!" but it's always the girls who start that stuff.
