How does delay poison work?

If I'm poisoned by a snake while under the effects of delay poison, do I have to make two fortitude saves at the end of the spell's duration? or is the poison only virulent for the first 60 seconds that it's in my system?

This spell has always confused me: it either seems extremely dangerous or else it seems better than neutralize poison.

You just delay the saving throws for a while. You still have to make as many saves as you would if you had never cast Delay Poison.

The spell has two uses:

Cast it before a battle against a monster whose poison deals Str or Dex damage. That way the poison doesn't suddenly make you suck in the middle of the fight, but later, when things are hopefully safer.

Cast it on a poisoned comrade so he'll survive long enough for you to find someone who can cast Neutralize Poison.

Three uses.

Cast it on your victim, give him the poisoned wine, leave, and make sure you have a solid alibi for a few hours later when he dies from a "fast-acting poison".

Actually, since it has a duration of hours, you can cast it before entering a dungeon full of poison traps, let the same person take all of them, then cast neutralize poison at the end of the day. When I was making plans to invade the Tomb of Horrors, I planned on everyone having a Delay poison spell as long as they were in the dungeon. Just in case.
