When i moved to the city for school (not knowing anyone) i met a couple of guys at Odysee 2000 who became great friends. Helped me and my girlfriend (new at the time) get closer and its probably one of the best darn stress relief i know of.

Gaming has introduced me to some of the best people I know.

Same here. I have several friends that I've met through Living Greyhawk.

Plus, playing/DMing has helped me quite a bit in overcoming my quiet/shy nature.

Actually, Henry, it's spelled "enough." :p

Not according to Stan Lee!

As for gaming improving my life, I am pretty stressed with balancing my job, my school, my art, etc.. and when I play D&D I forget about all that stuff for 6 hours. So to me, it's a stress reliever.

I participate in a hobby that I enjoy. That hobby happens to be D&D. That's how it improved my quality of life. Is D&D intrinsically better than other hobbies, though? I don't think so.

Doing something you genuinely love to do is always going to improve the quality of your existence. This just happens to be my "thing."

D&D got me interested in fantasy and history; I now plan to become a history professor because of that love of the ancient world :)

Other than that, I've had some great laughs, good times, and have something to do with my "nerdy" (term used loosely) friends once a week, regardless of whatever else is going on in my life

cheers,

The last 3 out of 4 jobs that I have had since 1999 have come from contacts that I made through (directly or indirectly) gaming. They were either people that I gamed with or they were people that used to game with people that I gamed with.

I met my husband through gaming.

Technically it was GURPS, I started out with D&D so I count it.

I met my wife through gaming...but it *was* D&D, so clearly, my wife is not Rika. ;)

I've made many other good friends, as well, through gaming -- friends with whom I also do things that have little or nothing to do with gaming, though gaming does provide that initial "glue".
