How Has the WotC PDF Situation Affected You REALLY?

How has the mandate to stop all PDF sales *ACTUALLY* affected you?

Probably worth noting - the "WotC was selling PDFs?" and "Don't care" options are leading the poll at this time by a huge margin.

While it's still early, and the poll is hardly scientific, the fact that about 80% of respondents couldn't care less speaks VOLUMES about how a small group of very vocal people can make an issue seem much, much larger than it is.

Color me unsurprised.

It has affected me from legally obtaining all my OOP TSR stuff, and it has just made my DMing 4th edition less efficient. I bought hardcopies and bought PDFs. I hate reading pdfs BUT they make writing your own material much easier. Copy and paste and then small edits, takes me five minutes to do 30+ minutes of work.

Personally I view WotC like any other Corporation, it's payback time....they need our money but not our respect this is how I view the situation.

And IMO it shows how ignorant WotC really is, you can't stop the piracy BUT you can bother/irritate the good customers some of whom will not be back to support their product. I was excited to get MP for Thursday game, just had a Swordmage and Wizard level in my game and the player was looking forward to it.....oh well.

I will fully support 3PP when it comes to 4th edition but I am not buying anymore Wizards stuff for the time being. Call it nerd rage if you want or call it a healthy stop of support. I was always taught if you don't like something that company is doing then boycott or let them know so they can mke things right....i.e. support your good customers and give them what they want.

Plus ça change . . .

None of the Above. I stopped buying WotC/4e products, after looking at the 4e PH, DMG, and MM. This is not a boycott; I simply think that 3.5e is better.

I did purchase several PDFS of products pertaining to prior editions of D&D from Paizo, rpgnow, and the like. I would do so again tomorrow, if/when PDF sales resume.

Until then, I have the OGL and products from companies that support it. That will do.

as there are more options to chose from for "i care or i protest" part than for the "i don't care part" that poll simply doesn't say anything. Its even multiple choice and that doesn't make a statement too.

are you angry about it?
1. yes
2. no, because
3. no, because
4. no, because
5. no, because

get my point? ;)

I love game pdfs ... but given that I am not playing (nor do I plan to play anymore in the future) D&D 4e, the decisions has not effected my gaming habits at all.

PDFs have been a great way to collect games that 1) I want only for reference, 2) only need a small part of, 3) am not sure I want to run yet but look intriguing, and 4) would otherwise simply take up space. As such, I will continue to look to pdfs (or whatever ends up replacing them in 3-5 years, as is common with computer programs) to fill out my gaming collection.

As for WotC, I feel the approach they employed was something like a shotgun versus a mosquito...
