How have you lost the most gaming books?

I have only played 3rd, so I have all of my books. They're in pretty good condition. Except sword and fist is in really really bad shape, like it could start falling apart any moment.

I had a friend whos 3rd Edition PHB starting falling apart at the binding. I think he got some glue and binded it back together

I seem to 'own' a lot of books but theyre never in my possession.
Buy book, read it, take it to a game session, never to be seen again in my house.

My friends have them, somewhere... I hope.

I loaned my 1e stuff to a former gamer years ago (when we were still playing 1e). He moved didn't bother to tell anyone and my books moved with him. Now my books stay at my house.

I did buy 2nd ed and those books didn't get sticky-fingered away. I never got to see them explode either though. I ended up with a Core Rules CD-ROM (which had them all in RTF format), so I donated my hard copies to friends. I never liked 2nd ed. Did they really explode in use? Dang - wish I'd played more now.

I claimed 'disaster' as I wasn't sure what else fit, but my meager supply of 2e books (along with some novels, old textbooks, and various gaming notes) were in one box that somehow didn't make it home from college one year. Of course, my D&D library is somewhat more extensive now, but that's not hard; in those days I had a PH, two class handbooks (Wizard and Thief), and two other softcovers that I'd picked up as gifts.

Dozens of my gaming books have somehow simply vanished when I've moved. It happens every move, and is actually quite freaky.

Between heavy useage, and multimoves thanks to the U.S. Army most of my books have simply worn out.

I still have the orginal Monster Manual, Fiend Filo, and Deities and Demigods (1st printing) but they will be leaving with my daughter for collage next year as she has claimed them as faimliy hierlooms.

Everything is in near pristine condition, with the exception of my 2nd Ed PHB (back before 3rd came out) and my entire Birthright Collection ... grrr ... as well as the Planescape Campaign setting. But their not 3rd, so its alright ...

Back when I played OD&D, I had most of my gaming stuff stolen in Tunis. It was a backpack with the red box, the blue box, the character sheets, and a binder full of homebrew campaign notes. And the dice. I've bought back the stuff and the homebrew sucked anyway, but I still miss the dice.

I've lost my things mostly due to simply not playing for a long time and letting it get lost at my parents house, and giving a bunch away, also when I wasn't gaming and thought I would never need the stuff.
