How is it done?

I found this feat:
WEAPON TRICKS [General]
COPYRIGHT 2001, Carl Cramér
Each time the character takes the feat, it applies to a new
weapon.
Benefit: Many types of melee weapons can conceivably do
two different types of damage. Examples are swords (could
do slashing or piercing), picks (could do bludgeoning or
piercing) and single-edged or bludgeon-backed axes (could
do slashing and bludgeoning). When wielding such a
weapon, you can opt to do either of the two types of
damage.
Notes: The DM is the final arbiter on what types of
damage a weapon can do, based on the illustration,
common sense and his knowledge on how these weapons
are used in real life. If in doubt, go with your gut feeling.
Balance: 4.55 (Purp 4.50, Pow 4.50, Port 4.75, Comp
4.25, Rule 4.75)

And I jump for joy; me and my DM had been discussing about the spiked chain, which is a piercing weapon, and my DM dislikes Homebrew rules(So it can't be a Bludgeoning and piercing). And when I show him this feat, he says that you could not enchant it with Disruption, even with this feat "A spiked chain is a spiked chain, no matter how you use it" I respect his rulling and can see his reasoning. But is it the way?How is it done?My reasoning is that beacause the feat makes a weapon bludgeoning(I/A) and the enchantment will only work on a weapon, when it is used as a blunt weapon, ergo no problem.

Note: my DM has said it can deal Bludgeoning damage

Excuse me, obviously, you replaced your computer screen with a mirror this day, you don't use caps, spell things wrong (Much worse then me) and are being extremely rude; you must have some Inferiority complex, sorry I meant inferior mind. I shall refrain from flaming you any more. Just one more thing, other may not be so forgiving as I, good day!

Well I guess I'll jump in with an "actual response". From my read of the feat it allows you to use the weapon as a Bludgeoning Weapon, but does not change the weapon itself one iota. Since it is the weapon taking the enchantment (as opposed to a spell that was cast on you) and the weapon hasn't changed, for example if you handed it to someone else it wouldn't be bludgeoning. That's why you can't add disruption.

/agree with EOL...

But I am curious...

Couldn't a sword also do Bludgeoning? Sword hilt to the back of the head? Flat part of the blade across the arse? That sorta thing?

What he said.

Hitting someone with the pomel might do some damage, but try to do that in combat and see if you keep your entrails. Using the flat of the blade, you won't really get a lot of power into your swing. Plus, the weapon would have to be swung pretty flat. It doesn't sound hard, but when the item you are swinging is designed to go a certain way, wind resistance has a habit of forcing your hand.

All that aside, when you take a -4 in order to deal subdual damage, I often picture sword wielders as wapping you with the flat of the blade.
