How is savage tide path shaping up?

Is anyone playing through it?
What is the playstyle like?
What episode is/looks like the most fun?

coincidently the party I am DMing is exploring a tropical isle.
I don't subscribe, but I may find that I want a back up premade game at some point.
the characters are just now 5th so I should be able to modify the adventures up or down a few levels to take advantage of a wide range.

I'll be running it so I don't mind spoilers but they should prolly be [sblocked] for others.

Thanks!

The Age of Worms is far superior to The Shackled City, which was very good in and of itself. However, when I compare AoW to The Savage Tide at the same point, I have to say that the STAP is the stronger AP (AoW had the best starting adventure of any AP, but the other low and mid-level modules up to the "Champions Belt", while good, had their fair share of problems, something that the STAP modules have no shared IMO). Since the AoW really kicked in overdrive when it entered higher levels, the real comparisons should be beginning shortly, and I can't wait.

I find that interesting because AoW seems (to me) to be the superior of both SC and ST (as we know it at the moment). AoW just seems to have that "something" that ST so far doesn't.

Don't get me wrong, I love the AoW, and it does the classic, high fantasy adventure really, really well (perhaps the best ever?), but I really like the swashbuckling elements, wilderness adventuring, and non-traditional campaign setting.

I have to admit that it's the swashbuckling pirate style of play that has me looking forward to running it when I finish Age of Worms.

Not sure on STAP. I'm reading it with some interest now.

I'm running AoW and with my once every three weeks campaign (on average - at best) I still have probably 18 months in real time to finish off the Age of Worms. My players have just completed the Champion's Belt.

So... by the time my AoW campaign ends, not only with STAP be complete, but the follow up AP - whatever it is - will be well on its way as well.

So I may sit out STAP in its entirety or not depending on the theme and story of the one to follow it.

For all that, STAP is interesting and well done. While it does not grab me in the same way that AoW did - it is a worthy Adventure Path and I am sure there will be thousands of groups that will enjoy it.

I love the AP in Dungeon and the support for it in Dragon and on the Paizo website. IMO, they have come to be the finest value in gaming and the pinnacle of D&D adventure campaigns. Seeing as they measure up against 33 years of gaming history and come out on top - that's no mean feat.

We are just finishing Tides of Dread. So far, for me, the best adventures for STAP has been The Sea Wyvern's Wake and Tides of Dread.

Style for STAP has been somewhat buckleswasher compared to the others. Lots of action or time at sea, which is quite different to the two previous APs.

Different faire that SCAP or AOW. Still too early to state which AP I refer - at this point, I still give AOW the edge and whether STAP changes that assessment depends on how the rest of AP goes.

Unfortunately our prospects of playing STAP are looking a little dim. Right now we're playing "Black Sails over Freeport." To jump into another lost island/pirate-themed mega-adventure would be just too similar.

So STAP will have to wait for a long, long while. I missed out on AoW when it was published, so that's out of the question ... I really, really did not like the first adventure to AoW, anyway. SCAP wasn't that good; we played about 1/3rd of the way into it and it totally did not work for my group.
