How long can a bard sing for?

Well t says in the book that bardic music lasts for as long as the song plus x no. of rounds.

So how long can a bard sing for? When should i start adding con checks?

1. He's not necessarily singing
2. At the very least, hours. How long does a standard opera go for? How much of a battlefield would such a bard's song cover?

Who cares how long he can sing for? Given that he can sing for hours, and given that he gets an extra use per level per day, is he ever really going to run out of uses of bardic music?

Finally, does it really matter? Would a bard singing all day and all night (assuming an Ioun stone of I-never-need-to-sleep-or-eat) really unbalance the game?

And remember that while the bard is keeping the song going, he can't cast spells, can't make use of a different bard music ability, etc. And if he is singing, he can't really talk to anybody. (And if he's playing an instrument, he can't use his hands for anything else - even worse.) Sooner or later he'll have a reason to stop.
