About six weeks. Would have been longer, 'cept I was looking for "IanWorld". Now that I have been corrected, I am been visiting every day. Love the joint, but I wish there was some junior version Search function.

I remember 4 distinct versions of the boards, though when I first started out, I only posted when I had a question or two. I always (then and now) scan the net for resources when I get a new book, and was looking for some 2E stuff online when I hit Eric's site. Been here since. Of course, I still didn't get 3E until it had been out for some time. (Actually, the only reason I was able to get the 3E books was because I decided to trade my battletech collection in at my LGS...pretty good deal if you ask me.)

Now, if only we didn't lose our post count with each new version, I'd have a somewhat respectable number built up...though I can't imagine how people could post often enough to have thousands of posts under their belt in just a few months. Don't you people have lives? :D

Strangely enough, I managed to miss Bill Door and Ruin Explorer...must've been because I didn't post often.

(Oh, and it's E. N world, folks! Never had a problem with that one.)

I remember Ruin Explorer. Never got in a flame tussle, though. Vaguely remmeber Dragoth... umm... remember Bugaboo and his "charge you for me to DM for you" thread. That was him, right?

Forever

I've been here since for-freaking-ever. Back when the only thing we had on 3E that there was definitely going to be at least one dwarven paladin, because there was a picture of him floating around. :)

Sonofapreacherman's fire pellet thread (and general suckiness)

The creation of the Pantheon, with ForgottenHater as the Queen (her sig involved some about "Your little dog Drizzt, too!"). For those who can remember that some person with way too much time on their hands made a website with boards for the Pantheon, that would be me. I came out of a year or so of lurking to be involved with that. :D

Bugaboo was DA MAN! Where is he?

ChairPERSON Gene, and his/her sex was ambiguous/misunderstood at first.

The cries of praise when Eric put up his first diagrams explaining AoOs with orcs and ogres, if I recall correctly.

When the number of actual boards was distinctly smaller than it was now.

When converting 2e modules to 3e was the actual INTENT of the whole webpage (I REALLY wish it still held such a large place here, because I would LOVE to start whipping out some of that good old Gygax and co. goodness, but I was never savvy enough with 2e to convert very well, I think)

When Nutkin actually posted on here :D

Well, to say "because he was a dick" doesn't tell the whole story, but comes close as a synopsis.
Well, yeah, I gathered as much. He did have a serious attitude problem,
kept making fun at every little spelling error I did, for one, but I always
wondered what *exactly* happened to make Eric & Co finally loose their
patience. I just logged on one morning and he was banned, related threads
deleted and nobody wanted to really comment on what had happened. It
was just weird.

Been here since pre-3E, but only just. May/June 2000, maybe.

All the old names bring back a lot of memories.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned that I'm pretty sure I recall (who can be sure, with us old-timers the memory goes first) is the hullabaloo surrounding the "Does Gary Gygax read/lurk/post here?" and of course he promptly did make an appearance. I remember Col Hardisson good-naturedly joking with him that he was the first and true Colonel on the boards. :)

Another fondly remembered thread - a troll, of course - was from Bugaboo (or maybe Ruin Explorer?) titled something like, "Am I wrong to exclude pregnant women from playing in my campaigns?" The 'argument' went something like, "I have nothing against women, babies, or pregnancy, but I want continuity in my campaign. And having a baby means the new mother will miss sessions."

Lurked since mid-2000 (like, visiting once a week or so) but didn't start posting until late 2000/early 2001, which coincidentally, is when my marriage started to fall apart.

Hmm... :p

Now I do remember the 'charge you for me to DM' thread...

Since then I've been in enough campaigns and taken enough abuse, I almost started trying that...at least then I'd get something out of all the prep work I was doing.
