Wow... I remember almost everything mentioned in this thread. I remember SoaPman's fireball/firepellet thread, I remember the thread where Col_Pladoh revealed himself and argued with Col Hardisson, I remember the Pantheon, and Bugaboo. I remember Bill Door and his eye, and Charwoman Gene (whose name, by the way, came from putting something into Altavista's english-to-german translator and then back into the german-to-english translator, or something like that). I remember that
they were actually the same person
. I think I joined when I first heard about 3E, and I got to the site looking for rumors about it. I'm so very old school! :D

Zappo, you're wrong on Bill Door's secret identity, but right about where Charwoman Gene got his name; Eric translated and re-translated the main page, and hilarity ensued.

Bugaboo is a newspaper reporter in the midwest, and his wife had a cartoon caption published in Dragon's monthly contest last year. I last chatted with him by email about a year ago. His "Bugaboo school of DMing" was a great joke.

Forrester's rant on elves was on a previous board. He moved pretty close to Boston, and I even had a beer with him a couple of times, but he stopped posting after moving to a very low-magic game.

Gary Gygax's introduction to these boards was the funniest thing ever. He showed up in a thread where people were doing their best Gary Gygax impressions, and no one believed it when he congratulated the best ones. Boy, that'll teach us. :D

I have been posting since 2001 under the name "tokyogamer".

But then I moved back to the States in Jan 2002 and changed my name since it no longer seemed accurate.

I have been posting off and on ever since. I lurk more than I post, though.

Occasionally, I post on the 3rdedition.org boards. Though, you'd think I would post over there more often considering I play D&D with Jim (who runs 3rdedition.org).

EN World has just always been my D&D home on the net.

SOAP's fire pellet thread is about the first thing I remember, but I don't remember which incarnation of the board that was on. If that was the first board, then I might have lurked until the second Noahboard. Still mostly lurk.

Hehe, I've been around for a while, though I just lurked for a long time. I originally came from the old Neverwinter Nights Boards before 3e came out, which I used to think was the best place to speculate. Sigh, those were the days when there was still some hope for Paladins having mounts in NWN, but I digress.

I remember Bugaboo (was really confused at first), the Pantheon, when there was no Story Hour forum. Oh, and the chat room riots about Dragon (something about a lawyer from WoTC?) and when Eric Noah was leaving.

I may have only one hundred posts but I have been lurking this place since I got my first home computer back in late 1999/early 2000.

I find I don't need to post a lot because most people make my points for me.

Because several members would use it extensively, and in the most offensive possible manner while staying within board guidelines. Every time they did it came across as so rude that I wanted to close their thread and smack them on the head with an olive loaf. We finally decided just to axe it, and I haven't regretted doing so once. Bwah ha ha ha ha, I wield ultimate power over tiny animated icons!

Ruin Explorer is a guy, and he's still semi-active over at Nutk.. err, Nothingland. He's slightly less pugnacious than he used to be. I heard Bill Door ran away with Macula in a fit of vitreous humor. ForgottenHater moved away from messageboards (and D&D, I think), although her brother Crypt King still comes by to say hi once in a while. Heh -- as someone else alluded to upthread, anyone remember Son of a Preacherman's first mega-flame rules thread over "fire pellets"? Or the hullabalooo over the neo-pagan cover of Relics & Rituals?

Funny you should mention those two. I first joined some time before the fireball pellet post....I remember thinking "Wow, a thread with more than a 100 posts!!!" lol

I miss ForgottenHater and RuinExplorer. RE was full of passion and I often disagreed with him but he always had a good point and would (eventually) listen to logical reasoning.

The flamefest regarding the Relics and Rituals booked was partially my fault. I replied to the initial post early in the thread and unintentionally fueled the fire. Amazing how emotional gamers can get.

So I think I joined during the early days of the second version of the messageboard...I've lost how many versions we're into.

Edit: Incidentally my story is that I got laid off last year, went broke and dissolved my d20 company, and recently went to work for NASCAR. Now I'm traveling all over and trying to get my finances back in order. Hopefully I'll find some time to post some stuff I'm working on and run some games this year...

Damn. Well, I said I remember, not that I remember well. :p

But, really, I recall a post where one of his funny sentences contained the..............

*insert sound of synapses flaring*

He was
Chronosome
, right?

The first time I posted was when the boards were at dynamic.gamespy.com/~dnd3e or something like that.

I remember lurking once or twice on a forum that was there before that.

The first thread I read (or rather quickly perused) was a Star Wars story hour by Piratecat. Where he played a character (a wookie?) with a tool belt.
