How many adventures left in Shackled City

First Post
My Dungeon subscription just came up and all I really want to do is finish the Shackled City campaign, I have plenty of adventures already. I know Dungeon #111 is going to have one and in Dungeon #110 they mentioned it's starting to wrap up. So I'm wondering how many more adventures are left for the series.

Thank you,

There are four Shackled City adventures after "Secrets of the Soul Pillars," making a total of 10 adventures. Barring unforeseen circumstances, Adventure Path adventures will appear in the following issues:

111
113
114
115

Basically, I wanted to finish up the current Adventure Path as close to issue #114 as I possibly could, since I'm crafting that issue as a new "jumping on" point for the magazine. Lots of changes will be working their way into the magazine from that point forward, and I thought it best to tie the Adventure Path up before we got too far into the new era.

The Adventure Path has been, by nearly all measures, a wonderful success. We'll definitely be doing another one in the near future, but my current plan is to run installments every issue (if possible) rather than every other issue. With a little planning, I think it'll be relatively easy to meet that schedule.

Next Adventure Path Every Issue? Hmmm...

I'm no expert on this, Erik, but if you only have two adventures in every issue, and one of those adventures is always an adventure path issue, that means that unless you are running the adventure path, you will essentially only have one adventure per issue.
I'll admit that I only buy the issues of Dungeon that have the Shackled City featured, but for the above reasons, I think it would be really unfair to the people that subscribe to Dungeon/Polyhedron for Dungeon. This might be unrepresentitive of the DMs here, so it would be nice if we could get some more input, but if I were looking to Dungeon to supply my campaign with single adventures, this is probably how I'd feel.

That assumes, of course, that there are only two adventures in those issues. While that's true of #111, it's not true of the other three. Remember, the magazine is changing. More adventures will be a part of that change.

Post #114, barring unusual one-offs like the Maure Castle superadventure in #112, we'll have at least three adventures in every single issue.

Speaking as a subscriber to Dungeon/Polyhedron, I would not find that unfair, particularly as Erik has said that the adventure count will increase.

I love the adventure path and look forward to its conclusion.

I'm looking forward to more adventures!

My guess is too that even if the adventures are a bit shorter, they will be linkable in general.

I too have felt like straying away from the adventure path scenarios simply because I'm ignorant as to whether or not they are good stand-alone adventures. I've got a high-level game coming up in my D&D-Conan campaign and we're shooting for "Heart of the Ferrous God."

Are the Adventure path scenarios workable as stand-alone without much work? Perhaps that's something that would be a good "tailoring" sidebar..mention how easy it is to use the series adventures as stand-alone adventures. (Maybe, you're already doing this..I dunno' Like I say, I'm ignorant...having grown up on the wildland prairies and swamps of MN). ;)

Adventure Paths

I wasn't really thinking of the three issues coming up one after another, they don't bother me, I was referring more to the next adventure path, where it would be like 7-12 months. If you are going to have two adventure in addition to the second adventure path though, that works out OK.

I hope that this is the case. I'm not a fan of one-night one-shots (or the old Side Treks) - I like adventures that will take multiple sessions for my players to complete. I'm really hoping that the shorter adventures aren't akin to glorified Side Treks.

I don't have time to write adventures myself which is why Dungeon is an invaluable resource for me.

I'm looking forward to seeing the next Adventure Path! I hope the new one will have less dungeon-bashing and more wilderness/outdoors encounters (my players are wondering why there are mounted feats at all as the opportunities to use them are few and far between...)

I've really been enjoying each issue, especially from about #84 onwards. Erik has seemed pretty excited about the changes so I'm confident that the quality trend will continue.
