O.k., technically, I'll buy as long as the books have things I'm interested in buying. But I don't foresee WotC making a 4e I won't like, so I voted forever. If you somehow wonder how I can safely make such a prediction, I would like to remind you that I'm on an RPG message board posting as fanboy2000.

Huh, yeah. Lemon Curry doesn't sound too terrible, actually. :hmm:

Oh yes. 4e books. Well, you know. Not to put too fine a point on it. . . 0?

Meh, 'bout that.

I was willing to buy the first set of 4e books pretty much sight-unseen. I'll probably buy the first set of 5e books the same (the previews would have to be really bad to turn me away - although this has happened with the WFRP 3e previews).

And as long as I'm actively playing a game, or plan to do so in the relatively near future, I'll keep buying supplements, whether they're called "Player's Handbook N" or "Complete Warrior". However, I won't buy supplements for a game I'm not actively playing, or even one I'm on the fence about. So, barring some dramatic change in fortunes, I won't be buying anything more for 4e.

Missing the ole "it depends."

Some of the books they come out with may not be my flavor.

For example, if they do the banna power source, I'm out.

But things like shadow, death, more martial, etc..., not a problem. Especially if they start doing themed Player's Handbooks in terms of source material as opposed to going for the splatter effect where there are some relationships between races and classes picked but not deep arching themes for the whole book. (Oriental Adventurers, Psionics Handbook, etc...)

I choose the lemon curry.

So far I've got both 1 & 2 of PHB, DMG, MM, and AV. Between those and DDi I'm set to get through the end of our heroic tier campaign. I own none of the "Power" books since I'm the DM and I feel those are player territory.

I'm not that interested in including psionics, so I'll probably pass on PHB 3, though I'll probably get both DMG 3 and MM 3 assuming the content is quality.

I'll continue buying them all until one of them turns out to be one I don't like.
Then I'll start being cautious before buying another one.

I bought PHB1/DMG1/MM1 as a boxed set. I've also got Arcane Power and DMG2. Most importantly, though, I have a D&DI subscription. Now, I only buy books like DMG2 that contain a lot of text that isn't in the Compendium. Pretty much everything in the *Power supplements shows up in the Compendium, so I haven't bought any more of those, or PHB2.

DMG2 has a lot of useful information on skill challenge design and includes rules for monster themes and templates, revised moster leveling/deleveling rules, and plenty more -- I think the only DMG2 content that's in the Compendium is the new traps and monsters.

In the case of Arcane Power, I couldn't bear to wait until the monthly Compendium update to see the contents, so I bought it. I've considered MM2+, because only the monster stat blocks are in the Compendium, not the images, descriptions, knowledge checks, etc.; I haven't needed it so far, but it's on my list of possible future book purchases. I'm definitely interested in the Dark Sun campaign setting books. I considered buying one of the Eberron books for the Alchemy rules text, but I decided that buying a whole book for a couple of paragraphs of content was probably not worth it. The other stuff I wanted from Eberron -- Artificer and Warforged stuff -- was all in the Compendium and Dragon/Dungeon articles.

Lemon curry.

I stopped buying 3.x books when I felt I was going to use or was interested in less than half of the contents. For 4th, I bought the core three, core three 2, I will probably buy the PHB3 for psionics. It would have been a garunteed sale if it had Shadow classes, however. I might not buy the PHB4 due to lack of interest because I'll already have what I need.

Basically, I'm interested in the Shadow and Psionic power sources, and then I don't think I'll need much else. If there isn't enough cool stuff in the book, I won't even buy those.

I think new core books are good enough. There is always something a player wants to play. Nevertheless, I guess the new Martial Power II and other Power book series (number II, III, IV...) is not such a good idea. It would ruin the balance of the 4th edition.

Instead of the new Power book series I'd prefer new adventure series with less combats and more fluff, Skill challanges, RP and other non-combat activities (like negotiation, trackikng, solving riddles and puzzles etc.).

I would love to see new books aimed at skill chalanges, non-combat sitiations, role playing, fluff etc.
