How many of you came close to selling off your stuff?

How close is C&C to normal d20? Could I use the adventures without any major surgery? If I buy C&C, is there a new edition available? This seem's to be the normal thing with RPG books, put out a first edition then follow up with a 2nd edition.

A second printing is out, still not fully corrected, but a lot was. The lay out is waaaayy better. A 3rd printing should be out by June. A second printing of the Monsters and Treasures should be out by then as well.

Major Surgery? Depends on house rules. Skills for classes and monsters can just be treated as class skills, plus since HD/level=skill check, its pretty easy to keep track.

Feats? I have a house rule called "feat like actions", so feats are easy for me to convert.

Selling all of it, never. When I moved I left all except a few games worth of stuff and simply told all my friends they could pick through everything else after I left (they showed up within hours of me leaving). I miss alot of that stuff including my complete 2nd ed Talasmin set of games, Morrow Project, and old box set Steve Jackson games (Car Wars, illuminati, OGRE). I've sold some stuff I didn't want and MtG cards. The only thing I sold completly to get out of the game was all my WH40k armies (ork, squat, blood angel) plus vehicles, rules, terrain, paints, carrying cases, and many other odd figures and custom bits. Sold it all for $100 with the coming of 3rd Ed because I hated the new rules and have never looked back.

I'm sure that my wife would be happy if I got rid of some of my books . I did trade a few of my 3rd party early 3e stuff about a year and a half ago and don't miss it. Pretty much everything else I have I'm going to keep. Several years ago I just flat out lost stuff from various moves and the like. I was pretty bummed that most of my Marvel FASERIP stuff was either destroyed or lost over time. But I don't think I ever sold anything except my 2e stuff. I will never get rid of my 1e stuff. Today, my collection keeps growing but it has slowed down some. I've replaced much of what I lost over the years and am now mostly getting stuff that I always wanted as a kid but could never find and/or afford and whatever new stuff catches my eye. My RPG libaray is here to stay.

I'm thinking about selling some books, because I might have to move soon. The only thing that keeps me from doing it is all the work that is involved. I'm not sure whether the few bucks I might get for the stuff justify the effort.

I got rid of the 3.5 books I own; I've got a passel of 1e stuff ready to go - fear not, true believers, it's all just redundant items at this point! - but if I even THINK I might want something, it stays.

So how moany of you guys came close to chucking it all? And for those that did chuck it all and then came back, do you guys regret selling your stuff?

For me I came very close to selling my D&D stuff but after watching great Anime shows like Inuyasha anf Fullmetal Alchemist, I changed my mind and kept my stuff and rebooted my group.

I've sold off my stuff several times and regreated only a couple of sell offs (a few GURPS books and my Classic Traveller stuff) I am seriously thinking of selling off my GURPS books in fact -- the logistics of selling 130+ books is daunting though sicne i won't sell them piecemeal

My sell off rule is never because I fear I am gaming too much and never because I need money -- when i meet those rules all is copacetic.

When we moved to India, we paired down to less than 1 bookshelf for all our books (not just rpgs). It was tough and we got as much as we could in PDF so we would have the information if not the physical book.

Didn't regret doing though, because if we wanted something badly enough, we didn't mind buying it again. Every time we stay put long enough (India included), a mini library seems to grow.

I gave my 1E stuff (rulebooks, not mods) to my buddy when 2E came out, I figured it was all obsolete. Man, hindsight being 20/20, I should have given him all my new 2E stuff.

I've never got rid of everything, though, and doubt I could unless I wanted to build a big bonfire. I've tried to give away my 2E stuff just for the cost of shipping, but no one wants it.
