How Much for that Dragon in the Window?

As for minions of the BBEGs... well, right now we have Dagon, Lamashtu (monstrous births), Cheliax (devil worshipping state), and slavers. The latter's the only one that would make sense for and, even still, they're not a threat at this age. For the next campaign in this continuity, however...

The 1st ed. Monster Manual gives 100 to 800 gold pieces per hit point, down from OD&D's 500 to 1000.

In Moldvay Basic, the price "should never exceed 1000 gp per hit point".

Note, though, that this is per point of HP, not per HD. The number of points per HD varies by age in O/AD&D, whilst B/X varies only HD (which are therein literally rolled dice).

It is the HP total that determines how much damage the dragon's breath weapon does (and also affects how many hits it takes to subdue or kill).

How much would a captured Very Young White Dragon be worth in the open market of a cold region? Presume interested buyers and a high level campaign.

I know that there are prices for things like Owl Bear Eggs, but this one's got me puzzled.

Is it in a store or is it being auctioned? If so, then everyone else here is probably right that there would be some "set price."

However, if its being auctioned off, the price could skyrocket...especially if one of the bidders has connections in more southerly climes. Such a merchant may well be willing to outbid everyone else- sometimes to a seemingly insane amount- because he knows he can sell it to the ruler of a desert kingdom for a royal ransom.

And such a purchaser may do the obvious and have it trained as a living weapon of war that would have attacks virtually unseen in the region.

Oooooorrr...he could treat it like a housepet, pampering it and using it to make chilled dishes or cooling the air of his palace with its breath (and aftereffects). Imagine entering his throne room as a breeze passes through frozen textile curtains, cooling the air and all within, or slaking your thirst on water and fruit juice cooled to 37degF. Such a man would have QUITE the reputation.

I'm running 3.5e. Owlbear fledglings cost 3000 gp, so I think about 6000 gp is about right, though it's clearly going to be about negotiation, not a set price.

I'm thinking the Viking tribe would be the most interested buyer, and might start with an offer of 10,000 gp worth of loot/magic items/other valuable considerations like a ship or share in a ship, for all 4.
