Those bastards are charging for the preview? I figured it would be a free web enhancement. Well they can kiss my lily livered a**, theres no way im buying a preview of a book im gonna be shelling out for a few months later.

$10-15 IF it has enough information to dink around with the ruleset and set some solid expectations.

If all it is is a book full of "look at what we're gonna do with 4e, wow!", it's worth less than its weight of paper in coal.

Seems like the sort of thing that should be free. It's not a real product, just a lead up to the real thing. But then, none of Wizards' pre-release information has been exciting for me and I may or may not be adopting 4th edition at all. (Judgement reserved until there's actually a product to look at)

:)
The phrase you might hear others mutter involves a "lily-white" body part.

How much is a preview book worth?

Rien, niente, not much of anything at all.

If WotC can't get me interested and excited about 4E with the free previews and teasers they're already providing, I certainly can't see how paying for a preview would have any value at all.

I could be tempted for under $10, but at this point have no plans to buy them. The fluff will be redundant when the cor books are publshed, and with no mechanics in the previews, it won't tell us enough about how the game is changing to be worth buying.

It's really a shame they called them preview books, because now no-one seems to know what they are. They seem like 4e-specific sequels to 30 years of adventure as described, and I'd get them if I can pick up both for about the cost of a new WotC hardcover. If they actually try to price them like game books they may as well start a fire with the manuscripts and printing fees; at least they'd burn cleaner than inked paper, and be more useful.
