How much is a "preview" book worth to you?

I'm willing to spend (U.S.$) on a race/class preview book...

I think I voted "price doesn't matter, coz I ain't buyin' em" last night.

But realistically, I'd pay a couple bucks for a 16-32 page "basic" preview. Kinda like the old conversion guide from 2E-3E (yeah I know it was free , just meant that type/size book)

These books they are pushing though? The whole idea of such a thing is beyond ridiculous IMO.

The books appear to be very similar to the "making-of" books and DVDs included in the limited edition of some White Wolf games and some video games. What's beyond ridiculous is the big deal people are making over this.

How oh how did I ever know you'd show up with a snarky comment?

Maybe cos anytime someone has an opinion that differs from "Everything looks great and WOTC is doing a bangup job with everything" you show up with one?

If you don't like my opinions (or others) fine. But you always have to throw in a little personal jab and it's getting pretty childish.

Products like these have existed for decades, and making such a big deal about them is ridiculous. If you can't handle someone having an opinion on something like that, then the internet might be the wrong place for you.

A personal jab would be something a little more than calling you ridiculous for making such a big deal about this. Trust me, if I wanted to take a jab at you, I'd have the moderators on me for it.

Trust me, I'm not making a big deal over these products or anything else about 4E or D&D or RPGs in general. Just discussing them and offering my thoughts. Unlike the majority of ENworlders I'm not a hardcore gamer who lives and breathes this stuff.

The "personal jab" is more like you tend to throw back someone's comment in their face. Its just really uneccessary. And I don't understand the vehement defense you put up when someone is not going gaga over whatever WOTC has decided to do or say. You're not gonna change my mind (or anyone elses I'm sure) so give it a rest please. At least as regards to me.

I pay for EN World, too. Thank god there are no ads here! ;)

Cheers, -- N
