I'm not a completionist, but I am a collector (e.g, I own all but about 10 of the WotC books for 3e, and I haven't bothered to pick up those last few...they were the "stinkers" that are remaining).
I browse everything, but I've found that my buying exceeds my reading a bit.
That doesn't bother me, as I don't read a whole newspaper when I get one, I just browse through what interests me.
Also, I really enjoy having many books as resources. Drow campaign? I'll just go to the drow section. Pirates? Gotcha. In any campaign I'll likely use less than 10% of my library, but it'll be a specialized 10%.
Also, I have this fantasy for when my son is old enough to game:
UBERSANDBOXING!
It'd basically be a spreadsheet of every resource I own and a placement of those things into worlds. Travel between worlds would be possible with planar or spelljamming stuff.
If I ever got to it, I'd make my gaming room into a map room complete with 3d maps, planetary solar system models, etc.
So that's a glimpse as to what I collect and why.
