How much sleep do you need?

I need 8-10 to feel rested. I need half that to function. I normally get about 5 or 6.

I can run for about a week on 5-6 hours a night without too much loss of efficiency. For longer than a week, though, it catches up with me pretty fast. At 7 hours or more a night, I can run indefinately. I'm lucky, in that I'm not a person who can "sleep too much". When I get fully rested, I wake up.

I haven't felt rested since I was 35, no matter how much sleep I get.

Quuen D: We have widely variant sleep schedules when my worthless self is out of work or on disability. Kryptowife is asleep by 12:30 most nights, and up at 7:30 for work. I hit the sack around 2:30 or 3 AM, and get up at 9 or 10. That way, we each have 2-3 hours of a queen-sized bed to ourselves to stretch out on, and still get cuddle time.

Her middle of the night restroom call is about the time I go to bed, so she gets up, I make up my sheet and blankets, she comes back to bed, I give her a head-toe massage, we both go to sleep. My middle of the night break is around 7 AM, which works because her alarm wakes me up before it gets painful). On weekends, we both stay up til 3 or 4, the massage is usually just the opening volley ;) and we get up around 11.

I like 8-9; I feel fully rested (even if I start out groggy) after such a night.

If I get 6 or less I can usually feel it the next day.

I've heard, btw, that teenagers need a lot more sleep than they actually end up getting.

I thought that was true for most people, though.
