How neat is this?

After our game tonight, our DM graciously surprised us all by handing out actual replicas of the letters our characters received after our latest quest. They were written on replica parchment complete with wax stamps. (Which we all thought were cool seals until she mentioned it was just the butt of her calligraphy pen stamped into the wax). Inside she had written the letters calligraphy style, and included an index card for the item each of us received as a gift.

We also got a full-sized deed to our new boat we received as a reward. Perhaps we won't burn Freeport to the ground and kill all its bureaucratic politicians now. :)

It's cool that your DM takes the time to make stuff like that.

Me ? I'm just too damn lazy to do that sort of thing anymore. And my players, those gits, probably wouldn't even appreciate it.

Ah, but I remember those heady days of times past when I would take hours to make my paper look "old and parchmenty" enough.

*sigh*

Once again just goes to show how a few handouts can make the game that much more fun and immersive. I do a few small handouts, but nothing quite as nice as those.

I still try and take the time to make things like that if I get the chance. My girlfriend played for the first time last year and was totally blown away when I handed the old calligraphy/parchment letter with burned edges crumpled up clue gag. For her it really helped her immerse herself in the game and now she's a regular player in the weekly (well semi-weekly) game :). A little effort can go a long way... I like the Deed idea though! (*steal* *steal*, file for future use)
