How should I run this contest for a free copy of "The Hamlet of Thumble"?

I think the best way for you to decide, is to pick an NPC and give as many or as few details as you want and then let the submissions roll in. That way you can narrow it down to a specific NPC.

It sounds like you guys want two contests, so how about one for a "Halfling Haiku" and one for an NPC/Shop description with stats? I was thinking something along the lines of a shop and an NPC shopowner described with stats. Is that too much for work for free product?

The winners can share a copy of the book.

Just kidding. Of course, I'll have one copy for each winner.

Also, I've noticed there are a lot of contests right now. Should I have this now or later?

Ohhhhh, have it now, I want to write a Halfling haiku! Is there anything campaign specific about halflings (i.e. anything that is different from the PHB description)?

Either people are preparing their entries or they just said, "Screw it!" Nobody said it's an an easy contest. Perhaps there will only be one entry and that person will win. Heck, I'll enter if that's the case and keep my own damn book!

By the way, have you checked out the re-designed Web site? I tried to make it easier to navigate and find things.
