How to avoid detection vs Alarm

The description doesn't specify how it detects intruders, so we'll have to assume that it just does. If it was foilable by any of those techniques, it would say so.

So, the only way to do so is to not be a tiny or larger creature entering that space. Dispelling it from a distance would work too.

An interesting house rule I've seen is to treat Alarm as a magical trap. So a rogue can find (Search check DC 26) and disarm (Disable Device check DC 26, a roll of 21 or lower sets off the alarm) the spell ...

Nondetection specifically works against Divination spells, and Alarm is an Abjuration, so no dice there.

Well, any form of extra-planar travel would work.

Any movement (t-port, d-door) that can put the attacker right next to the defender defeats alarm (though it still goes off). Heck ranged attacks work well too (combine with a cow catapult for extra fun).

Dispel, Greater Dispel, and Antimagic Fields all have obvious uses.

Finally, there's always the "decoy" tactic; the spell goes down after it's been activated once, so just send in a blind kobold until the wizard can't cast Alarm that day, *then* attack. For really good results repeat over many nights.

The problem is that we are assaulting a complex which has severla Alarms, with Permanency :)

Maybe dispell them... mmm....

Reading the spell description, I can think of a few things to try.

The caster assigns a password. Use commune to find out what it is (or perhaps spy on one of his minions as they cross the area).

The spell is an emanation. If you can determine the point in space it is cast upon, you can enclose that point within a container and the emanation is prevented. :) Perhaps a flying familiar or unseen servant could hold a container around that point?

Or have the servant open a bag of holding and lift the bag so that the point is inside. The emanation will not cross a planar boundary. :)

Use wall of force or cube of force to completely wall off that point to prevent the emanation.

Ethereal creatures don't trigger the alarm.

As already pointed out, an antimagic zone would prevent it from going off.

The official list of spells that are traps is under the Search skill. It does not include Alarm, however it darn well should IMO.
