How to balance 3 man party?

I'm running a campaign with a gestalt group of 3.
Cleric//Wizard angling toward archmage
Fighter//Ranger
Fighter//Scout

They are light on rogue type skills like pick lock/disable device, but the Fighter//Scout has a fairly high STR so she tends to batter doors rather than pick.
Between the F//R and the F//S, they have the outdoorsy skills covered.
No real face though....no one's CHA is great and no one spent many points in social skills.

I'll be running a 3 person party through Expedition to Ravenloft in the near future. Any ideas on how to balance things? Character's aren't set in stone yet, but so far one player is thinking about a Beguiler and another is thinking cleric/Radiant Servant. There may be a second cleric, also. I have no problem changing the encounters or throwing in an NPC. I've even thought about having each player have a cohort or a couple free feats.

Any suggestions?
Gestalt.

Paladin // Cloistered Cleric (domains: Knowledge, Strength, War) -- The Tank. Focus on Charisma; take feats like Extra Smiting, Divine Vigor and Divine Might.

Rogue // Cleric (domains: Trickery, Travel) -- The Rogue. Note that with the spell gravestrike he can Sneak Attack undead. This guy could also be a Beguiler // Cleric, if you prefer that mix.

Wizard // Cleric (domains: Healing, Good) -- The Wizard. Has lots of spells.

Cheers, -- N

For the Wiz/Psion...unless its really for a strong PC concept or aiming for a PrCl, I'd go one or the other, and find something else to flesh the PC out. For example, if hw really wants to have some psionics, a Wizard with Wild Talent can still take levels in Kineticist ( http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040625e ) while taking Rogue, Cleric, or another non-"blaster" class. Or he could take PsyWar and boost his HP and feats. OTOH, he could be a PsyWar or Psion with Warmage and have a nice mix of abilities without compromizing his ability to wear armor.

For the "rogue," might I suggest a Cleric of Olidammara w/Trickery & Luck Domains, and possibly taking it easy on traps until someone takes actual rogue levels?

For that matter, what is the campaign's starting level?

A cleric isn't strictly necessary as the paladin, and possibly the rogue too, can use wands of cure light wounds. But an NPC healer wouldn't hurt.

My vote for the ideal 3 man party is Fighter, Cleric, Rogue. I am old school and do not believe in alot of multi-classing. Heck half the classes mentioned in this thread I have never even heard of. :D

If single classes are adhered to, then Druid, Cleric, Wizard is a very strong combination.

If Gestalt is the party choice, then a Swordsage/Wizard, Cleric/Crusader, and a Dragon Shaman/Druid combination (that is, everyone takes on beneficial night classes) would be good.

Any intention of hiring/freeing a dedicated frontliner (Warblade, or perhaps Warblade/Bard)?

Hi,

My Lands of Intrigue game features a 3 PC party: Unfettered/Rogue, Cleric & Wizard (evoker). They tend to run into trouble when they're up against several big brutish monsters.

Cheers

Yeah, those brute monsters seem to assume the tank is in front doing damage and taking damage and the cleric is pouring the best healing he has into said tank.
