How To Become A God

About how much adjustment do you think this would need to be a Dragon Ascendant PrC? I've been contemplating such a thing for a little over a year now.

Do you have issues with the one in the Draconomicon, or have you just not seen it? If you haven't, I recommend it, it's a good book all around.

Yeah, actually, I do have a problem with that one. You have to already be a dragon to take it. The epic prestige class in this thread is generic, allowing anyone of any race to become a god. I'd like to use the concept for my NPCs that desire to become dragons.

Ah, I see. More like an epic dragon disciple, less like a dragon-specific version of the ascendant discussed here...

No. I want it to be available to anyone who wants to physcially and mentally become a dragon. All the dragon disciple does is give you the half-dragon template, plus some other abilities.

Sweet...

i've been debating on the course of a character in a new campaign i just started... and i think i just found it. its gonna be realy cool, i'm starting at 0-level! i haven't had alot of time to read over this yet, but when i do i'll post some suggestions for changes (if i have any...)

Some thoughts...

First, take a look over at DiceFreaks and more specifically their Deity Creation Guidelines:.

It has the following:
- 45-50 HD for demigods.
- 50-55 HD for lesser deities.
- 55-60 HD for intermediate deities.
- 60-65 HD for greater deities.
- 65-70 HD for the most powerful of the greater gods, usually creator deities or pantheon heads.
- Ascended deities generally have less Hit Dice than usual.

If you converted it to a 10 level PrC, you could have them go through it each level to gain the next rank of god-hood. But in making it a 10 level PrC you would want to make it harder to get into so they can't get into it until 35HD+ (to fit the above guidelines).

Or you could create a set of 5 PrC of about 10 levels each that would advance to each level.

Also, they have a rank -Quasi-Diety, which could be DvR 0 or so. you could make this a 10 level PrC, that would make it 20 levels to get to demi-god.

I gave this a lot of thought, but in the end what made me decide on the ECL 21 approach was that I wanted it to be attainable by any class or race, given enough power. Given that a 21st-level character might not have anything only Epic characters could have, I decided that was the best way to get in on the ground floor. (After all, a 21st-level character could just take a regular feat instead of an Epic feat, and they might be 7th/7th/7th level rather than 21st level in one class.) The additional prereqs are there to make sure that would-be gods are truly Epic in scope, even relative to other Epic characters and creatures.

I wanted even a character who didn't have Epic Leadership to be able to start the path, even if it will later have to take it to follow through to the end.

All feedback is appreciated!
You could make it a class mechanic that they can enter the class upon reaching ECL21 given that they select the epic leadership feat as their feat at 21st level (Basicly, as they acend into the class, their leadership ability trancends normal leadership). I do think that you should make it require that feat though, especialy given that a diety generaly has no true power without worshipers.
