How to defend the whole damn Forest!

Your best tool in this case is the Plant Growth spell. Use it to cause areas of overgrowth at the edges of the forest. You can ring the forst with intertwined undergrowth that is difficult to hack through, or leave areas of normal growth, using the spell to funnel intruders into traps/ambushes. Strategic placement of overgrown areas inside the forest can also be used to advantage by the druid's troops who know the 'fast' paths.

Thanks good ideas - I had already thought of the use of traps (Entangle gets my vote as the best spell in DnD) and friendly animals etc to wage a geurilla campaign but was still caught up in the ' but how do you cover every entrance' dilemma!

So thanks Squire James for pointing out that I don't have to defend every entrance and of course Commune with Nature is a cool way to do it (thanks Dakkareth)

The Dark Druid is NE apparantly human and a cannibal. He embraces the more predatory, savage side of nature (styling himself as the ultimate hunter and runs with a pack of wolves and Lycanthorp (werewolf) rangers). His ambition is to turn the surrounding lands into a gigantic forest covered hunting ground (and yes Nifft the forest already has cannibal pixies resident)

The other questions I have are in regards to magical incursions (ie Teleport), Fire attacks and aerial attacks

Whats the best way to defend against
1. Teleporting attackers
2. Forest Fires
3. Someone sending in an aerial assault or worse calling up a storm of vegeance

Not too many, unless the cleric has access to a sympathetic cleric with a forbiddance spell. Best to just detect and fry the attacker when he comes in.

2. Forest Fires

Control weather, on a scroll beforehand. Quick rain will quench anyone's attempt to ruin the druid's day. Also, setting controlled fires beforehand to keep the forest cleaned up and fire damage minimal will help here.

3. Someone sending in an aerial assault or worse calling up a storm of vegeance

Anyone stupid enough to aerial assault with anything less than a dragon will encounter the friendly forest creatures on air patrol, or the awakened hawks used as spies flying recon every so often. Storms of vengance can meet Greater Dispel Magics. If the PC's have firepower, don't forget the druid can use his firepower to its fulest extent, too.

An Uhallow with a dimensional anchor keyed not to affect the coreligious attached to it covering your base of operations. It needs 5000 gp a year in sacrifices to maintain though, so in this guys case you're probably going to need to assign a Gp value for human sacrifice.

You said the druid is APPARENTLY human, which means he might be something else that can shapeshift into human form.

This opens things up to a variety of lycanthropes, ogre magi, rakshashas, certain dragons (with Druid levels!), and dopplegangers, among other creatures. Just food for thought.

Druids have the spell Quench, which puts out fires AND temporarily shuts of fire-based magic items.

Wildshaping into innocuous forms and using Natural Spell to wreak havoc could be fun... by alternating forms and lairs, the PCs may never get enough info for a successful Scry-Teleport assault.

FFG has Wildscapes, which in turn outlines rules mechanics for operating in various terrain, to include forests.
