How to delete a thread

How do I delete a thread that isn't needed anymore. I made a thread asking a question but then I figured it out.

I haven't tested it, but for some reason I think you can delete a thread if you delete the entire first post. However, I don't think you can do it if other people have posted in the thread. I haven't tested it yet though.

Or you can ask a Moderator to do it for you (although if there are any replies we will normally just leave it and it will disappear in due course, or if necessary lock it)

Another option is to add a reply that provides the answer to your own question. You never know when it may help someone else, even if you were able to figure it out on your own.
