I'm with Fifth Element - why is a windowless room (far from unheard of in contemporary prisons) not a simple solution?

How long is it going to remain without a line of sight to anything? How do you feed the prisoner?

Now, if you put the eladrin cells down a hallway filled with vicious, unchained dogs, then you are getting somewhere.

Have you seen a solitarty cell? You're fed through a double-blind. Open one day, insert food, close door, which opens the interior door.

Then close interior door, whack your stick against the door a few times (Which can keep you sane... apparently >.>) and then presto. No LOS, and food.

The 30ft Pit, however, is the right way to go.

What if her cell is lined with mirrors and she doesn't know it? Does she teleport herself to the spot she sees in the reflection??

I still think pits are easier. Low tech effective. The windowless room is not that great - how do you keep watch of your prisoner to make sure they're not doing anything sneaky? (like tunneling).

Allowing you to teleport into the intervening space.

Actually, in thinking about it, I think you'd need a 40-foot pit. If the eladrin teleports 5 squares straight up, that puts his foot level five feet below the pit wall--and since eladrin average anywhere from 5'5" to 6'1", he could easily catch the lip of the pit with an Athletics check and haul himself out. Granted, presumably the pit is covered most of the time, but if the lid has to be removed to throw down food or taunt the prisoner (a standard job perk for dungeon guards), the weaselly bugger might be able to scramble out and set to killin' before the guards beat him back down. :)

The "intervening space" is basically a one-foot square box inside the door, in this scenario.

Ah, well. That would be pretty good. It still seems pretty likely that the eladron could eventually put a small hole somewhere in the cell.
