How to make poi-poi as weapons?

Sounds like some kind of Bola to me.

They aren't thrown, you hold on to one end of the rope and whirl the weighty ends around.

They're weighted bits at the ends of short ropes so they'd be fancy flails.

Flails don't have the offhand weapon property and can't be dual wielded. In the adventurers vault there is the scourge, a military weapon in the flail category with the offhand weapon property (in other words, yeah, a fancy flail ). Sounds like a perfect match.

For some reason I see an evil halfling ranger using 2 of these. Or a valorous tiefling bard, whirling them around in poetic motion at the campfire to the delight of the onlookers.

When you use them you get concealment from your enemies, as they are too busy rolling their eyes at you to focus correctly.

How about a Rogue (for your striker) wielding a Spiked Chain (Reskinned as Poi)? It's a pretty awesome build as is and pretty similar in look. If you are wanting to make use of PHB3 you could take advantage of the hybrid rules and go Rogue/Warlock with Spiked Chain. A Drow would be pretty awesome. Walking in the Shadows spitting circles of flame

I meant flails as in the weapon group, not flails as in the weapon.

I tried using a hennway on my 10 year old not even a week ago and his reply was, "Huh, that must be like a really big road for chickens."
