How well does Spycraft mesh with d20 Modern?

I think this is a common misconception with d20 Modern that for example just because Strength is your highest attribute you should be taking levels in Strong Hero. That's not the case at all, you should put take various base classes that fit the concept of your character regardless of what your stat points are.

In my view, the d20 Modern base classes are flexible enough to mix and match for nearly infinite possiblities.
I worded that badly. I tend to multiclass across the base classes for a while before I narrow my focus by taking ADcl's, even then I still tend to multiclass out of the wazoo.

In other words, though I mangled my own reasons for liking the D20 Modern set up, I agree wholeheartedly.

I'm interested in the Spycraft stuff, but like Kane, I'm pretty invested in d20Modern and, by extension, Grim Tales.

Plus I'm a big adherent of the Modern class structure. It's rapidly closing in on perfect, IMO, so I'd be keeping that no matter what. SC2 seems to have enough good things in it that I'd like, that I might pick it up.

Really, though, I hope there's enough good stuff in SC2 that OGC that Ben can update GT sometime. Save me the work. I'll pay for something with the base classes I like and the good rules I enjoy.

Well like I said earlier, I own a heavy stack of both d20 modern and spycraft (1 & 2), so yes I am a sucker for d20 with guns.

Personally, I find the class system in d20 modern is excellent. As a player, you can really build a character to fit your concept, as opposed to squishing a character concept into an archtype as in normal D&D. That said, my players seem to have a heck of a time making interesting characters with it.

I find the combat if spycraft to be superior to d20 modern, because it is built for guns while d20 modern is basically D&D with different weapons. Spycraft combats just feel better to me. Although once again, that said, it can take awhile for the players to get used to it.

The gearing up phase in spycraft 1 took forever in my group, so I'm hoping the new SC2 rules will speed things up. Hrm.. other general comments. Oh, the fact that SC2 is one big book (similar to d20 modern being one big book) is great. I don't plan on buying any of the silly splat type books like I did for SC1.

For both systems.. WE NEED more adventures and settings. I have enough rules to sink two ships, one with d20 modern and one with spycraft... then I guess a third with general books.
