I'm looking at a rule we created under 2nd Edition for a game we're resuming after a long hiatus. The character using the rule is a type of what I suppose would now be termed Living Construct. When he picks up a weapon or implement with intent to use it, it sometimes becomes part of him. The old rule was a convoluted mess, now that I look at it.
Is there a simpler way to do this than contested rolls and charts? The worst extreme result is damage to the player and the destruction of the item, median results can cause the tiem to be assimilated at zero, half, or double wight, and the perfect result ends up with him gaining a permanent ability/bonus.
Any suggestions?
