How would you prep as a 14th level party to storm the bbeg castle?

If you were in a 14th level average party with a cleric, wizard, dwarven fighter, human ranger/wind rider, blade singer, and a few more support characters like 10th level druid and such.

What would you do to prep up for the storming of the enemy's lair.
The lair is an old volcanoe with lava tubes and the like.

What have you done in the past to prepare for this kinda thing?
How did it turn out?

Divinations! Knowledge is POWER!

Prepare for anything, and prepare to retreat once you really know what is going on, and then prepare for that.

Have multiple teleports ready for running out.

Have long lasting defenses going before heading in.

Have loaded up for bear on offensive magics.

SOP.

Our party of four is 14th level and we are raiding an undead vampire's citadel.

A helmet of teleport we got helps a lot as its teleports can't be lost to energy drains.

Side note no divinations in or out of the lair and no Teleports as well.

They can teleport to an entrance or divine an entrance but the lair is a naturally occuring divination/planar sinc. No summoning sinside either.

Final battle will probably take place outside the volcano proper so those won't apply.

You're the DM Shallown?

What about watching (physically) from outside for a while, and capturing things that come out etc., and mine them for info... magically or otherwise.

He is the DM....

That may be a good idea, but this place may have many exits.
We will also need to protect an area that is out in the open on the side of a cliff. Any idea's on how to fortify something in the open?

If possible, I'd lay siege. If the BBEG has access to Create Food and Water then this won't work, but if he doesn't...

Sneaking into the fortress of an enemy who is still active (as opposed to dead for 1,000s of years) seems like a generally bad idea if he has spent time prepping for an incursion. Drawing the enemy out/destroying the fortress seems a lot safer.

What is the setting? In FR I'd load up on Create Magic Tattoo if there was no choice but a direct invasion. In any setting, you are going to want to have lots of buffs up.

Does the enemy know you are coming? If so, you should do several hit-and-run raids and slowly bleed away his followers and resources.

If the enemy isn't expecting you, you might try to do it in one go to capatalize on the advantage of surprise.

The enemy has been scrying us for some time, but we are capable of surprising him so he doesn't know we are coming. Laying siege to his place is a good idea, but he may possess some means of creating food and water. We may try the hit him quick and for as long as we can muster route. You are right that taking him by surprise will be our best bet. I'll have to check on the create magic tattoo, I believe we may be able to have some of those done and that's a good idea. I'll look into it for my character for sure.
Thanks
